Anyone belong to the Craftsman Club?

You guys are probably beyond stuff like the Craftsman Club, but I'm kinda just starting out here. My dad was fond of Craftsman (as well as SK Wayne) tools and my wife used to work at Sears (years ago) and was fond of the workplace atmosphere and the way that Sears treated its customers. So I joined up. Anyway...

I belong to the Craftsman Club so that I can get in on the Craftsman Club Days sales. Well... they are only honoring that discount on items that are featured in the sale flyers for in store purchases. All of their internet stuff still fall under the blanket discount, though. Whoopee.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm convinced that the retail prices that Sears charges for most Craftsman tools are ridiculous. The sale prices are about the only way I can justify Craftsman tools. If I wanted to pay retail prices, I'd buy SK stuff (which it sounds like I'm gonna start doing) and get better stuff for about the same price.

Sears still honors its CC days discount for items over sold over the internet, but there are a LOT of internet tool retailers that have Sears surrounded... and that's not even including ebay!!!! Then there's shipping. You're gonna end up paying the same - if not more - fore Craftsman tools online. DUH!

Sorry, but I had to rant. I feel a little cheated by the Sears/K-Mart retail giant. Good thing I found an SK dealer near my in-laws.

I used to be, until they changed my Sears credit card without my approval or request. I never activated the 'new' one, and things kinda petered out on the whole Craftsman deal for me - got my basic set of tools, and moved on to other stuff..... ...

They kinda screwed up when they tried that CC switch on me tho, gave me a reason to go elsewhere.

Like Radio Shak, you can't but at list price at Sears, you must wait for the 50% off sales.....

Yes the Craftsman Club discount days aren't nearly as good as when it first started. However, here in Arizona that 10% off only really makes up for sales tax anyway. You have to shop carefully, like last month Sears had a sale where all open stock wrenches and sockets were 50% off and they did this during club saver days. I cleaned up replacing missing odds and ends. Ebay bargains are few and far between these days too as their popularity has grown. I have alot of SK tools that I use regularly. You can get great SK bargains online, often with free shipping, and no sales tax for now. However, I can't warranty SK here like I can Craftsman. I use tools from every tool truck brand daily at work and I am convinced that there is no perfect brand and across the board, quality isn't what it used to be. Buy what you like and trust, and shop around for the best deal.

You are right about S-K & other quality tools being priced close to Craftsman. We have a tool dealer here that sells brands such as S-K, Proto, Wright, etc. Often prices on these tools is less than Craftsman, especially if you are buying a fair amount, they will make you a good deal. I really like Wright tools. They are made more to what I call Industrial Standards..... .

The problem is that the 10% only applies to internet purchases now, unless the tool is featured in the ad flyer, then it is 10% off in the store, too. It used to be that during CC days, ALL Craftsman tools were 10% off. Not anymore.
