for light work,it is hard to beat Victor's firepower line.they are a nationwide co.so parts & attachments are easy to get.i've found that dealing with smaller suppliers is usually better because they are willing to deal with individuals.the bigger co's usually don't want to bother with small orders.

Andrew, It's like with anything else, everybody has their favorite. Of the two that I have experience with, Victor and Smith. I like the Victor. I was in the welding trade for many years and it just seemed to do better. Whatever brand you get, please don't use it to beat the metal you are cutting or heating. We used to have helpers do this all the time. It will ruin the torch.

Hi andrew, There's nothing better than a Victor 100 cutting head. Light weight and will last forever. I have one thats 40yrs old and still works great. My Dad used it for 20yrs and I've had it for 20yrs and Dad bought it used so we really don't know how old it is.

Probably hard to go wrong for light use. Do you want acetylene or LP? The LP is cheaper & easier to get, but will use a bit more oxygen and won't get quite as hot. Won't cut as deep, but actually easier to do some light jobs.

There are big tanks & little tanks, and you'll probably be looking to lease those other than LP.

Probably the one that you think is the best! There are many good makes out there suitable for your needs. I wouldn't go overboard on an expensive outfit, but get one that has several cutting and brazing tips. This is called a combination torch. Happy hunting.
