In the 1960's our dairy farmer neighbors had a pto driven ac generator. When the storms would knock out the power, they would hitch up the generator to their 4020, plug into a box on the power pole, throw the cutout switch and be back in business. The cutout switch ensured that no electricity could get on the commercial lines which would be dangerous to the crews. Do they still sell pto powered generators today? Or does anyone still have an old working unit?

: Bill, how much power does your generator need? Would my JD 60 be big enough?

A 25 KW will put out 104 amps. @ 240 volts, and will requier 45 hp. Cost $2000 t0 $3000.
Not cheap, and this does not include the transfer switch.

Good luck,
Dusty
