long 310 injector pump

I am having trouble getting flow through the injector pump. I am working on the tractor to get it running to see if I would like to purchase it. The person who owns it now got water in the fuel. They flushed the system, but took one of the inlet lines to the injector pump off and lost the internal parts. I think I have all the parts, but I am not sure how they go back in the pump. I have both inlet lines loose and now wonder what else might be wrong. I am having trouble finding a manual for this tractor. An illustrated parts breakdown would do some good. I am not sure how much this tractor is worth, once I even get it running. Any suggestion for worth, I think it is an 1982 Long 310, diesel 2 cylinder. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the line that is apart the one on the end of the pump oppisite the drive end that stands up if so it looks like it should have from top to bottom hex inlet fitting -retaning spring- sleeve plug- valve sleeve-regulating spring- piston-priming spring . I have a 1980 310 4x4 dad bought new ours is a cav pump not a copy (says cav right on the tag) has always been reliable and super tough. I would not hesitate for a second to buy another if it was the romanian tractor good luck. mike

That's it! I took that line apart & it had nothing but the what looks like a catch screen made from plastic and screen. I have some parts I ordered but I don't know the difference between the 3 different springs I have. I am gonna need an illustration to put it together right. My dad called the LONG dealer, hopefully I can get some documentation. Thanks!

I appreciate all the replys. I am gonna give the Long dealer a call. The guy who owns the tractor wants $2000 less the repairs I have to do. I am just not sure if the tractor is worth that much. I know tractors hold there value pretty good, but I am not sure how well made these tractors are.

I'm not sure about the 2-cyl engines, but the rest of the Romanian Long tractors have an injection system that is a copy of a CAV system. Any info you can find for Ford or MF should be applicable. Any Long dealer can get a manual for you. I'm sure that Lewis can help you out. If you need it, maybe I can dig up something from one of my books. Let me know.

When you find out, post the info, I'm curious. When I was working at a Deere dealership, we took in on trade a 410 four-wheel drive Long. That was probably around 1980, and it was pretty beat up then - so I don't know what year it was built. Injection pump had problems, and it had "Iron Curtain" writing on it of some sort. Rommanian or Czek maybe? We couldn't find any parts for it at that time. I think Long was out of business for quite a while, and then started in again. I know Longs bring next to nothing at local autions. I saw a big 4WD go last year for $550, and it was in miserable, but running condition. I almost bought it, but chickened out at the last moment. I bought the old 410 from my boss for $700, used it for few months and then it got coolant in the engine oil. So, I parked it, and it's been sitting in a field ever since - 25 years now.

You might want to invest in a phone call to a Long dealer at 864 682 3652. Ask for Lewis. They might be able to get a manual for you. Get the serial number off the tractor first. Hope this helps. KEH
