Your compressor is definitely a Brunner. I have one just like it and the label is still on it. I am running it with a big old 1.5 hp 220 v motor. It works well but is a little slow on recovery. I might speed it up a little. Right now it runs about 437 RPM. Anyone know what the correct operating speed of a Brunner is?

yes mine seems abit slow on recover aswell, are you just going to put a bigger pully on the 1.5 hp motor?

so the companh is named "Brunner" then right?
Look at the size of this 1.5 hp motor! I dont understand why today`s 1.5 hp motors are so small compared to this one. this weights like 100 lbs.

It's a Brunner. Around 2-5hp I would guess. Gonna be very difficult to find any parts. If it runs ok, use it till it blows, then toss it. Definitely bigger than 1hp. If you want to know for sure what HP it is, pull the head, find the bore and stroke of the LP cylinder. Find the displacement in cubic inches of the cylinder, and divide by 10. This is the HP of the motor needed to drive it at max output.

Displacment(inches) = ((.7854 x diameter squared) X stroke).

The bottom end is nearly indestructible, as it is all plain bearings, even the crankshaft mains. You MIGHT be able to cross reference piston rings from something else with a Hastings piston ring catalog. Valves will probably be the killer if it is not running right.

The model number was a small metal tag like the one you see on carburetors, attached to one of the block bolts. Most have long disappeared.

One thing I'd be leery of is if it was being turned so slow for so long, did it get enough lubrication, as these pumps were splash lubed.

Hey, I had one of those old compressors for years, virtually indestructable..when I retired I gave it to afriend in the trucking business !! It should be 220 Volt..5H.P. and yes it does run slower than today's models...they were used a lot by the various oil company service stations back in the old days when "service" was actually a common commodity ! Good luck with the old boy !! Jim
