Snap-On Toolboxes Used Prices?

Knowing there are a lot of variables,but what % [precent] of the new price is fair to ask for a used Snap on top&bottom. I"d rate them at 80% of new condition w/ keys,well kept.

i guess i will throw my 2 cents in. alot more variables that go into it that we need to know is are you makeing a private deal with somone you know, a private deal out of an add in the paper? or an auction who knows on an auction sometimes way high sometimes give away. alot of it depends on your uses. drawers w/o ball bearings to me are worthless, so i woudlnt give a very high percentage of origional value to them. usually from what i have seen the big big big snap one cainets with the side cabinets etc that are in good shape that the guy that has been in the business for 40 years and the box is huge and still full usually those sometimes bring pretty close to thier origional value vs. if its only a top chest no ball bearings those dont usually sell to well. keep in mind there are only about 3 real box manufactures. waterloo makes good chest and compare one of theres (found at farm and fleet around ehre) to a craftsmen same dimensions same drawer set up about 1/3 of the price. since snapon sears mac no one give a lifetime warrenty its not really worth it to buy the snap on name unless you are getting a good deal on a used one but to buy a new snap on isnt worth it and not worth it to spend extra money on it just to get the snap on name. like i said they dont warrenty them for life so if the slides wear or you back over it with a loader orknock it over and warp everything it doesnt matter what the name on the front says

Don't know how this relates to your question; but I just happen to be listening to a daily call-in "Farmers Market" program at the moment.
Someone just phoned in with a "Snap-On, 42" wide top and bottom with casters, real nice shape, $450.00 for the set." Sounds like it would a pretty good deal.

I have weighed in on this one a couple of times recently here.

Just bought a 40 inch top and roll cab set used for $1500. This set lists new for about $3500. Got about $70 worth of goodies thrown in (liners and 2 divider kits). Real nice shape no major dents or dings.

Had looked at another set from another dealer he wanted $1500 with 2 dings in the lower box where a car ran into it. Didn't affect operation. He said if I didn't take it he would get those pulled out and sell the set for $2500.

Dealer I bought from seemed to be willing to deal. Not the guy that covers my area but owns the route in my area.

It would probably make some difference what you are looking for. I would guess the smaller the box the bigger the percentage you can take off.

One suggestion steer clear of pawn shops especially if you don't have many in the area. I am a avid pawn shopper but have found that they need to be watched and their prices on boxes are out of sight. As always buyer beware!!

I think you are pretty close, maybe a bit on the conservative side. I have seen non-snap-on brands sell at auctions for more than new price. Used tool boxes are a sellers market.
