Does anyone know a good home recipe for stripping oxidation from aluminum parts? I'm talking about a solution that parts could be dipped in that would remove oxidation and old anadizing without pitting the aluminum to prep them for polishing. Also wondering about the same thing for brass and copper.

How about Duro Aluminum Jelly? It"s like Naval Jelly except it"s for aluminum not iron/steel.

Contact me of list, and I can give you info on some metal cleaners that are not found in retail stores. I used them for some 20 years when I did sideline work for antique shops. They were not intended mainly for doing what you are asking, but they worked like a charm. My e-mail address is not blocked. John

Always used"Simichrome" on motorcycle cases, also theres a "Flitz" aluminum cleaner/polish, and "Mothers"Aluminum Polish...For aluminum wheels and such most of the major auto wax companies make spray aluminum cleaners...CAUTION:AS SOME OF THESE SPRAY CLEANERS ARE FAIRLY NASTY ACID BASED COMPOUNDS,BE SURE IT IS MADE FOR ALUMINUM,AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY regarding usage, handling, masking overspray, rinsing/neutralizing.

Yes ,But I need something to remove clear anodizing from an already polished part. But apparently its a secret.Once you touch it to the buffing wheel your work is cut out for you.Tough to just "polish" away that stuff.Simichrome is my fave for touching up a polished part.
