I picked up an old Curtis air compressor last night (sorry - no pics yet...) and I"m trying to get an idea of what model it may be and when it might have been built. Can anyone direct me to some good resource info? It"s a small unit, single stage, with about a 5 gallon tank under it. Flat pully, leather belt. Didn"t get the specs off the motor, but I think it"s been replaced - it just looks newer - it"s a GE, wired for 110volt. I believe the serial number on the compressor ID plate was B180, but there"s no date on the id plate. It"s an interesting compressor in that there is a "flask" shaped iron "bottle" between the compressor cylinder and the tank, and there is a small stopcock in the bottom side of this flask (presumably to drain water?) I don"t know much about air compressors, but I love antique tools - they have a sound and a feel to them that is unique. For the $20 it set me back, I wouldn"t have cared if it didn"t even run, but this one even seems to work! (Haven"t had a chance to see what kind of pressure it might generate, yet.) I"ll try and get some pictures tonight. Thanks for nay help!
