I have a Kohler K181S that is in need of an oversize piston and possibly the crankshaft ground.
Can anyone advise me where there may be a shop that can to these machining operations, or, would it be less costly to order a shortblock?
Thanks

boring the cylinder can be accomplished with a rigid hone, most any automotive amchine shop can do that. the crank can be ground on any conventional crank grinding machine. kohler cranks can only be ground .010 undersize. depending on where you live, you might have to send the crank and block somewhere to have the job done, in any case you'll need to provide them with the new rod and piston at that time. might as well have the valves done also, it is still cheaper than a new engine. look in yellow pages for auto machine shop or ask at an auto parts store where a shop might be.
