I found a mid 80's ford f-600 cab and chasis with 5 spd 2 spd rearend. I would like to know what kind of fuel economy I could expect and what kind of pulling power it would have. I'm thinking of using it to pull a gooseneck with several tractors.

That engine does not like high revs. That is a TRUCK 429 not a street motor and is a valve suckin',pushrod bendin' rod thowin' SOB when operated at higher revs. Other than that the 429 Lima is a tourqy hard pulling engine.

Andy, If that engine was on gas you should expect about 5 to 6 mpg. On LP I wouuld think that 4 to 5 would be the norm. That429 probably has an Imco 425 carb. They are hard to beat, and have plenty of power too.
