be cautious about so-called craftsman tools. there are loads of tools labeled craftsman that have never seen the inside of a Sears store. these knockoffs are sold at flea markets and other venues, and yes sometimes Sears will replace them, however if they say taiwan on them, expect to get a little grief.

I have a set of 1/2" drive impact sockets my Mother-in-law bought as a christmas present. they were made in Tiawan (sp?). I rebuilding a engine for my Father-in -laws pick-up I broke the 5/8"s". It took forever to get a replacement. Sear was out. When I got the replacement it was US made. I have thought about taking the rest back to trade in. If the ask what is wrong with them I would say they have bad printed on them. Tiawan=BAD

Not sure about where Craftsman are made, or ought to be made, but Sears puts out a tool catalog that has hundreds of tools in it that you would not see in a Sears store, including Craftsman hand tools.

Seems to me Sears went offshore for their tools for a while. Probably a money saving idea from some exe. behind a desk that didn't know what a tool was. I thought we only got the junk in Canada as a few years ago a buddy went south and I couldn't believe the difference in the quality of Craftsman tools he brought back, and tools that weren't even available up here. Was in Sears on the weekend and the tools seem back to the old standard.

Several years ago (maybe 10) I bought some 3/4 drive sockets in a Sears store that were made in Taiwan. Last time I looked at them in the store though they were made in USA.

I have always wondered what the story was on all the Craftsman tools at flea markets. I do not see near as many as I did years ago.... Back home there was a guy that did the floors at Sears at night. He took orders for tools on Sat, & delivered them on Sunday. He finally got caught & fired. BTW, I never bought from him, I really hate a thief. Are Fake Craftsman tools being made now?? Or is Sears selling ones made in China now ???
