Just wondering if anyone knows what make of diesel engine is in the 2005 Jeep Liberty? I dont want one just wondered.

How about Nazi Benz.They are no longer an American company.For all practical purposes Mopar has deceased.The once great Chrysler is not on the stock exchange any lomger.You might as well buy that if you like the Pearl Harbor bombing countries cars also.Buy American it still matters.

Matters if you want to pay to much for crap. Theres a reason the American car makers are struggling, the cars from the "70s "80s and early "90s SUCKED!
I had an "84 Ford Tempo which in "94 when I graduated from High School was pretty much totally toast, the body was falling off. I drive an "83 Mercedes now, decent car. Its rusty too, but its 10 years later. I know where my Tempo is, in the junkyard where it belongs!

My great uncle bought a "76 Chevy 1/2 ton brand new. Replaced it in "89 after the second bed, second set of doors and third set of cab corners all rusted out. One of his pals just last year retired his Toyota pickup which finally rusted out.

Now Mercedes has fallen badly in the quality department since hooking up with Chrysler, but theres no American car maker can keep up with the Jap car makers on quality in any respect. Keep paint on a Dodge lately?

So a perfectly good car that can easily outlive any American car from the period is bad because it has wipers on the headlights?

Study your history, the plan was to shoot accurately and not waste ammunition. The 8mm round used in the German Mauser is balistically superior to the 30.06 in every way. With good sights a German Mauser will outshoot a Garand any day. The German tanks were better than the American's in every way, the German field artillery was better too. The Allies only won the war with luck and because Hitler was insane. If he hadn't have been pulling resources away from the war effort and ignoring his general's advice he'd have been unstoppable.

Hey, I'm an American and I love my country but theres times to admit that we're not perfect at everything, we do make mistakes. Case in point, the Chevy Vega. Lets make a car with an all aluminum engine only use 3 or 4 quarts of oil and cool it with 1 gallon of coolant in a "sealed" system so when it leaks you can't add more. Of course "sealed" only means that the radiator cap turns the wrong way which is a clever idea in itself.

The Germans aren't much on pickup trucks, your GMC is a fine machine, I assume you live someplace there isn't much snow or salt on the road, or you're VERY careful about keeping the bodywork nice. Otherwise the body would be totally gone by now. The closest German example I can think of is the Unimog which is frankly an amazing piece of engineering.

Hey Ludwig I like German girls.Ok you are right about some of WW2 German tanks for one being superior.The 8mm was very acurate and used in Nam by snipers against us but in a serious firefight it was outgunned by the Carbines.One problem for infantry was that large round ,noisy mess kit the infantryman carried.Once you went to the next level;automatic machine guns the Germans had an edge.I like the site on the 8mm rifle.I fired blanks in a battle reenactment but Id love to take it to the rifle range and try it.Yes I was a German.[WE won the Battle of the Bulge for the fatherland. At least the fake battle]

Zachh,hey you finally read this.I just wanted to see if you were on your toes.If it makes you feel better I once worked in a place that was an authorized ford engine remanufacturer.You would have loved the huge pile of blown ford motors.We used to just dump them around with a fork lift.Each had died a horrible death.Ludwig wipers on headlights are an indication of further stupidity under the hood.

Ive had Fords butI heard on the news about two years ago quality was way down.I do believe General Motors to be the greatest car company in the world.I was also called Chevy man way back cause I always had a bow tie patch on my jacket.Zachh I didnt think you would read this.Now as far as Chrysler ruining Mercedes;well the fired all the Americans so the Germans can only blame themselves.Saw it on tv so it must be true.

Mercedes Benz, is the car/truck divison of Daimler, or Daimler Industries, kind of like General Motors owns Chevrolet. Daimler bought Chrysler corporation several years ago. The parts packages come marked, Daimler-Chrysler.

How can the above statments be true when the 4cyl diesel engines of 20yrs ago produced 52mpg in city/hwy combinations ???

Simple math says the new diesel engines have 112% more polution:

24.5mpg-52mpg=27.5mpg/24.5mpg= 112% less efficient than 4cyl diesel engines of the past!

Must be the "new" math there teaching!
