I bought the two man model from Northern about 3 years ago. I think it has a 50 cc Tecumsah 2 stroke motor. I dug about 75 holes in Colorado decomposed granite and clay soil. I loaned it to a neighbor who fenced around 5 acres of the same soil. it works great. I think they now have a larger motor. Buy extra of the replacable auger tips. They wear fast if there are rocks of gravel in the soil. When they get rounded it slows the digging.

I never heard of it. But all you care about is that it do the job. I have one that I purchased at their store here. with the 12" auger and it worked fine. The little ford had no problem putting it down about 4', I put in the holes for the deck and shed. I'd still be out there if it was not for the thing. Go for it.

JUST REMEMBER ONE THING YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR NOT A CENT MORE A LOT OF TIMES NOT EVEN THAT. IT IS UNWISE TO PAY TOO MUCH , BUT IT IS ALSO UNWISE TO PAY TOO LITTLE. WHEN YOU PAY TOO MUCH YOU LOSE A LITTLE MONEY,...THAT IS ALL. WHEN YOU PAY TOO LITTLE , YOU SOMETIMES LOSE EVERYTHING, BECAUSE THE THING YOU BOUGHT IS INCAPABLE OF DOING THE THING YOU BOUGHT IT TO DO.THE COMMON LAW of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot,it can't be done.If you deal with the lowest bidder, its well to add something for the risk you run.and if you do that you, will have enough to pay for something better!!
