Homelite Super 7 Spring reload

I broke the string on my super 7 today. Pulled off the cover, pulled off the wheel, and accidentally pulled out the retraction spring. The machine runs like a dream, and I would hate to stop using it. Does anyone have instructions on how to reload it? There is three peices of spring steel involved: one still in the housing, the main spring, and a shorter piece of steel with a hole in one end.

If you have a Super 2 and have 3 peices of spring, then you need to replace it. anyone who carries small engine parts can get you a new spring through aftermarket companies. This is a very common saw.

We've been a HOMELITE dealer for over 50 years & never heard of a Super 7... Can you describe it further? Does it have a UT#?

JT is correct...Yours is broken. If your case is plastic the spring should be inclosed in a tin container with the open side to the outside. If plastic, the open spring will have a 'hook' to catch a notch in the case. I stock both. Contact me if you still need one.
