Does anyone know of any method of protecting the niside of an air compressor. I drain mine from time to time when using it and do get water out, so I know the inside of the tank is taking some type of a beating. Wonder if it would do any good to paint the inside of the tank, especially the bottom, or can you coat it with something else. Ho would you paint or coat it? Any ideas? Mine is a big upright unit, runing on 220v.

Thanks..
Bill

Hi Bill, you might also want to do a blow down and squirt a pint of oil inside the tank if a oiless pump. Like Mike said, that will all you need.

If you are running an oiless compressor, your concern may be warranted. If you have a 2 stage comp. w/ oil in the crankcase, don't worry about, enough oil pushes past rings the inside of tank will be coated w / oil

I'll bet if its got a large enough plug you could get somebody to powdercoat it. It would have to be pretty clean inside but if it is I think powdercoating would work great. It would also be expensive but would greatly prolong the life of the tank.
