When are folks going to figure out that there isn't and "my brand is better than yours". If you want a different type of problem go ahead and change brands. There isn't any one brand that doesn't cause grief. It may be drivetrain on one, driveability on another and elctrical on another. You drive, you're going to suffer. And the mention about them not built good anymore?? When John Q. Public is believing that popular and/or lots of features means a GOOD vehicle of course they aren't built well. They pile on the add-ons and sell the heck out of them.

They're all perfect! Don't you see the ads on TV and in the newspapers and magazines? A few years ago, I went to the library and flipped through lots of magazines to compare ads for pickup trucks. What did I find out? Ford pulls more than Chevy. Dodge has a better engine than Ford. Chevy has a more comfortable seat than Dodge. With Ford, quality is job 1, but Chevy's like a rock. Dodge runs more economically than Chevy. Ford sells more than Chevy or Dodge. Chevy's trucks built 30 years ago retain retain more of their original value. And now there's Toyauto and Nissen bragging about how they're better than Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. I'm starting to figure it out. Ford is better than Dodge, but Chevy is better than Ford, but Toyauto is better than Chevy, but then Nissen is better than Toyauto. Yet, Ford is better than Nissen. I guess they must all be perfect like their ads depict. If we have any problems with engines, trannies, brakes, A/C, electrical, body, interior, they must be figments of our imagination

Holy Cripes! I didn't make much sense at all! in reply to Loren, 02-09-2005 19:26:29
Sorry, I had just finished reading about the Ford truck problems and fellas mentioning to dump them for brand X. Sorry for causing the mental black hole there. I seem to have let some of the black hole out from between my ears!

Don't apologize Loren, you are right. You are going to get bashed on this site regardless of the subject. When we run out of politics, we go to religion, then motor oil, then "$20,000 JD 3020"..... will be awhile for I'm over that one.

Free country. Speak your peace (or is it piece).....never did know the proper verbiage. Grin

Mark

I think I finally figured out what you are talking about, and I agree. I long for the days when you could order up a new car or truck equipped JUST the way you wanted it. For instance, in 1962, you could order a Chevy with the Biscayne, Bel-air, or Impala body style. You could get any of these styles in 2-door sedan, 4-door sedan, or 2-door hardtop. Engine choices (yes, you did have choices) included the base in-line 6, the 283 v-8, or the 327 v-8. You could get a three speed, 4-on the floor, or automatic, and if you wanted a cupholder, the dealer would hang one on the door for you. I could go on and on, but it would take all day.

Rusty- you forgot to mention one of the best features of that brand new '62 Chevy....you could own it for years and people could still tell it was a '62, since they didn't look anything like the '61 or '63 models. Cars looked different every year back then!

Whatever, but I do not agree. Some "brands" are just better than others in most anything you buy.

on 48 spindle drill. It rode on tracks. Drilled 48 holes at a time. Also was passenger on boring mill type machine. It also rode on tracks , and the operator platform would travel higher than my house. Those are the only two tools I have been on , which had there own drivetrain. They wouldn't even fit into my garage.
