I know that this subject is getting old with some of you guys but heres my question. How does a pellet stove (or any wood burner stove) hook directly into a forced air furnace system with the duct work? If any of you guys have seen this or work in the HVAC industry please let me (us) know how this works. I really think that the way for me to have a pellet stove is to link it into my existing furnace so that the heat is used properly. I dont have a basement to put the pellet stove in, Which would work great.

If you have a wood burner with its own hot-air plenum, and you want to hook it to your existing duct work, a back-flow preventer is what is usually used in the hot air plenum. It disconnects whichever furnace is not being used from the plenum with a swinging door/damper while the other is blowing hot air. The wood furnace is supposed to be hooked in parallel, not in series to the main furnace. I used to buy them when installing wood furnaces. But . . . I just got done putting a new wood furnace in my own house and couldn't find anyone that sells the backflow units anymore - so I had to build one. With this wood furnace, and many others, the warranty will be voided if it's not hooked parallel with the backflow prefventer. I can send you, or post a diagram if desired.

Cold air return above the stove, works good in my place. Along with the two open stairways at wach end of the basement. The Harmond Coal Stoker Stove does have a 6" duct option to tie into the exiting hvac system ductwork. The wood stoker pellet forced air furnace is an option?
