I've been told the firing order is 1-3-4-2 starting at the top right post on the mag as you face it. Can anyone confirm this? I put new plugs in it tonight, have good spark and plugs are wet. Its on my Lincoln SA 200 welder. Thanks.

The firing order on your Continental is indeed 1342. As for mag timing, it would follow the same order (clockwise as you face the mag cap) BUT it could possibly be timed to the engine in such a way that the top right wire isn't #1 (depending on the mag, etc). You've got to turn the engine over till the #1 cylinder (front of engine) is at top dead center position. Carefully remove the mag cap and notice to which terminal the rotor inside is pointing. That terminal will be your #1 wire, then 3-4-2 clockwise after that one. While you have the mag cap off, make sure that when the engine turns (just a bit) that the rotor is moving clockwise towards the next wire position. What I'm saying is that a mag could in theory have the #1 wire anywhere in it's rotation as long as the #1 is timed to the engine's #1 at TDC. Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys, I tried what you said cannon ball and she fired right up. However it was running and all of a sudden it started to rattle real bad, and I grabbed what I thought was a loose shield. Nope. The fan blade. Cut my right hand up pretty good, 24 stitches. I guess I was just overexcited as this was the first time I"ve had it running. Well, this was the first time I"ve ever been to the ER and I"m 20 so I guess it could be worse. I appreciate the help guys, Atleast it runs now!

Well I ran it for about 10 mins today. Ran pretty good. I plugged my grinder in the 110V recepticle and worked pretty good. Oil pressure was around 30psi. Gotta get new sediment bowl assembly and a key switch. Does anyone have pictures of the 2 knobs used to control the welding? Mine are missing. Thanks for the help!

Go to the Lincoln Welding website. They have the operating manuals for the older obsolete welding machines. You can print them up. I just printed one for my SA-200 last night. Good luck!
