After the ice melted today, I went to Tractor Supply to get some more ratchet chain binders & grab links , so I would be legal on the new 4 chain rules...It looks like they have jumped on the same wagon as Walmart, & gone to all China-made stuff. 3 years ago, all of the binders & similar items there were good-quality USA-made. All of the binders, hooks & clevises they sell now are marked "China" I am not willing to stake my future on a hook made there... I walked around the store...almost noting is made here. The rubber Boots, Muck.. USA at 65 dollars, are made in China if you look... I guess I will just start shopping for good used things at the Flea Markets...

Last week I went shopping for scaffolding. The new stuff at this large dealer is all made in China. I bought five panels of used Canadian product for a little bit less.

I'm like you. Went to TSC because needed big log chain. Biggest chain they had was 3/8", and hooks for it were stamped CHINA. I left without a putting together a chain. Picked one up from a farmer that sold me a tractor, 1/2" x 20' for $20, all made in USA. Soaked it in oil, good as new. My sister and brother thought were doing me a favor and picked up a 1/2" drive ratchet while were their. First thing I noticed was not stamped anything, so figured made in CHINA and asked what they paid for it. Was like $10, so had to be made in CHINA. Went to use it, wouldn't stay locked in, so when they weren't looking, it disappeared permanently. It'll probably poison the soil it's buried under.

If people don't quit buying that shoddy junk, one day will find themselves unemployed and unable to buy that shoddy junk like many others. If it's made in CHINA, I can do without and make do another way. Flea markets might be a good way to go.

I should've mailed that ratchet to Clinton and told him to shove it up his a.., then asked it it was worth committing treason against the USA for campaign contributions. The two-bit slug.

The only thing on items marked USA that are actually made in the USA is label itself. What a joke. Did a brake job on my so called American made car and all the parts around the wheel where stamped China, Mexico, Taiwan. Oh yea take another look at some of the latest junk, it�s made in Russia. Good thing the cold war is over!

Same problems with bearings I bought for my trailer. Made in CHINA. Seems anymore you are just stuck with this S***. Agreed however some of the quality is not to bad. Bought a radio a few years ago, big stamp said made in USA? Hmmm, inside all the parts were tiawan. So figure. I look for a time soon when there will be nothing on the market that is genuine USA. Boy, wee all could write a book on this subject.

Trends continue, I read where chinese auto are comming to usa,The next you read where millions of fords are recalled for a stupid switch that will set your overly priced vehicle on fire.Hmmmmm

I heard on the Radio last week that a Chinese Auto would be here in 2007. The brand is "Chery", & they plan to start out with 250 dealerships. Price is supposed to be 30% less than a comparable car made here or Japan. The importer that is setting up the network is the one that brought Subaru & several other cars to the states.

Over 25 years ago the local K-Mart started selling China stuff. I boycotted them for a long time but it's only getting worse. So, rather than do without, I caved in.

2 things to say.

Quality is liken to Japan in the early '50's quality was really bad. Today "Made in Japan" is synonomous with "Made in Switzerland". It's getting much better.

Price is usually so low that I buy things that I wouldn't buy otherwise. But if I bought things for commercial use, I'd go and look for USA products and pay the price for the quality difference.

I too am guilty of buying made in China products, a small lathe and milling machine. Almost every manufactured item on any retailers shelf, is made in China or some other foreign country now. In most instances, you won't a like product to choose from with "Made in the USA" label. Even Walmarts, who once prided itself by selling and promoting "USA" made goods, appears to have gone mostly Chinese. Unfortunately, loosing all these manufacturing jobs to outsourcing, will soon be the USA's demise as the Worlds economic leader. Just look at the devaluation of the dollar against the euro. It's sad, but true!
