Is the jaw kind of "V" shaped? Is the anvil portion the opposite "V" shape?

If so, it looks to me like it is a tool to make the crimps in stovepipe ends so that they will slip together.

Hi Greenbeanman,

Hand crimpers have three blades 1-1/2" long. The center blade closes to make the SM form one inside "V" and forcing the SM over the other two blades forming a outside " ^ ".

You then move the outside " ^ " blade to the " ^ " crimp just made in the SM pipe and this sets the correct spacing of crimps around the pipe.

A manual crimping machine use two round dies that resymble spilnes for making the crimps. A crank down depth control of the top die sets the correct crimp depth and the die splines sets crimp spacing on the SM pipe.
