Can anyone offer suggestions on what type or brand of blasting cabinet is best. I know nothing about them but have many small parts to clean trying to restore my tractor. Thanks for anything you can offer.

I have an Econoline unit. 40"X40"X30"H. Bought it through either McMaster Carr or Grainger Industrial Supply - $1700. Worth every cent!! I would not do restoration without it. One tip: When you do get one, tapp the incoming air line into the unit and run a rubber hose off of it into the inside bottom of the unit where the glass bead would sit. have a small valve in the line and trickle air through the hose to keep the beads falling down to the siphon pick up. I bought a used Zero brand "Blast & Peen Cabinet" about 8 years ago for $650. At the time, I thought it was alot of money. Looking back, it was a bargain compared to the amount of time saved cleaning parts. ----- My cabinet has a door on each end, is approx 42" wide, has its own dust collector built in, along with top-mounted flourescent lighting. I can fit most engine blocks into the cabinet. ----- The temptation to buy a small cabinet to save on cost is false economy (IMHO). Buy as large as you can afford. You will always find something you want to blast that will not fit into your cabinet. ----- The size of the cabinet does not have any bearing on the air requirements. CFM is determined by the size of the nozzle on the blast gun. I run my gun at 15 cfm @100 psi utilizing glass beads and a 5hp compressor. ----- My usage is non-commercial, but I'm constantly finding something I want to clean. Engine parts, rusty tools, car parts, tractor parts, etc., etc. all get blasted. Blasting will not remove oil or grease, so all parts must be degreased before blasting.

Try Tip equipment @
Link

They sell several models of blasting cabinets and pneumatic tools. I've got a medium size Tip cabinet and I'm quite pleased.

I agree w/both of these posts as to the info,I have had a Tip/Scat cabinet for several yrs and am very happy w/it.This company has been around"forever" and has great customer service.I blast at 40-100
lbs depending on media/material.You will need at least appx 5hp single stage compressor(10cfm@90)to be successful using Tips small gun.If you are "handy"Tip also offers cabinet plans/parts to
build your own plywood cabinet which is how I started.
