I need a part for my Super Sawzall. Its about 10 years old and works great, but the set screw that holds the blade in has a rounded out allen head.

Where can I get a new one or is there a way to change this to a lever lock system?

I need the saw for an upcoming project (I found a new DeWalt reciprocating saw on ebay for $9.99...maybe I should just buy that?)

Might add they may also be called socket head cap screws. Remember Milwaukee don't make their own either, but may have a reliable supplier. They are often in those cabinet assortments with the drawers. They are hardened. Bill

No I haven't heard of it. I am in Weedsport, 25 miles west of Syracuse. Most of the cities like Syracuse, Rochester, Bufallo, Erie, etc will have a Milwaukee service center. A call to Milwaukee 18008658360 would get you the name of the nearest to you. We used to sell Milwaukee tools years ago and whenever someone came in looking for the blade screw we would sell them an ordinary socket head cap screw for a nickel. Unfortunatley I don't remember the size.

I've had good luck through Grainger parts operations, although you may have to get the part number from the Milwaukee website. You can reach Grainger parts ops through grainger.com

Brian . look in your yellow pages under electric power tools and you will see listings of Milwaukeee dealers. That is a common replacement part and usually comes in a set. you can also call a good power tool repair store that fixes electric tools, they may also help you. good luck

Any Mil. dealer or even local harware store. Its just a standard allen.About a 10-32.As far as the newer easier blade holder .I dont Know about swapping this onto a different sawzall. If I can get two side by side I will try to take a look at interchanging them.A tool repair guy might know this. Then you dont need the allem wrench anymore.Dont know about the DEwalt.Im guessing its imported.Porter-cable makes a good one called tiger saw.Dont know that price either.I know Im not helping.

well that is my problem...my local hardware store doesn't know where to find, sears is clueless as usual, home depot does not have, is not sure how to get etc....

The blade end of the screw is tapered, so I can't use a regular bolt....although now that I think of it maybe I could just grind a taper on to the end of a bolt....

There is nothing special about the taper. It's there just to keep the last thread or two from getting buggered on the blade. 3 seconds with the grinder should be fine. My local Home Depots have a bunch of stuff in drawers in the bolt and screw isle. I've found, if you take your time and look yourself, you can find a lot there. It is unlikely that any Home Depot employee would have a clue.
