Where on earth can you find taps and dies to cleanup exotic threads? Thinking of tubing fittings on hydraulic, fuel injection, instrumentation fittings, Swagloc, Gyroloc, ARP fittings etc?

If your just looking to clean up the threads and not actually cut them there are several tools out there nowdays. Sometimes though the threads are your everyday US standard/Metric/British/Japanese... pitch, straight threads so any "standard" tap or die will work. If they are odd then there is a tool made that has a V notch and two floating cutter blades on it. The notch holds the fitting, bolts, etc so when you tighten it down the blades ride in the threads and clean them up. Being able to float the cutters will follow any pitch thread and they don't care if their standard or metric or whatever. The one I've got on on my truck that goes from like 2 to 5 inches but they do make one smaller. Not sure who makes it, I got mine through our KAR rep. but I believe I've seen them in either Mcmaster Carr or MSC also. Too OTC makes a similar tool that has square inserts with the proper tooth pattern cut on them. Again you tighten it up and turn it and the teeth clean up the damaged threads. I'm not sure how small you can do with it, I've always used it for larger stuff, but it works great. Beyond that there is always a thread file or simply a small file with a profile small enough to get down into the tooth pattern.

when I worked at Dana and they owned Weatherhead yet you could order taps to cut threads for straight thread tube fittings out of the fitting catalog. I have no idea how many they had. I had a special need for just 2 sizes. They also had the tooling to cut the counterbore for the O-ring and it would finish the hole to the correct diamter. Sometime I would like to talk to you.

Enco`s 2004 catalog has 10 pages of taps. A thread gage for std. and metric along with a good measuring tool always worked for me. Often, the cheapest tap or die would work for this, as I was just repairing the wrinkles. If you are making new threads, that may require better tooling. I have changed straight threads to tapered, and changed the number of threads to get a molding press up and running. AND no I did not have any leaks when the press was turned over to production.
