6022 welding rods found- what are they for?

On my most recent scavenging trip at the local steel fabricator's dumpster, I spotted a huge pile of unused 6022 welding rods.

I grabbed about 100. There are probably 1000 more . Can anybody steer me to a web site with a chart of the different types of welding rods and their uses?

My welding experience is limited to my Millermatic 250a MIG unit. I recently was given an ac arc welder, but have not fired it up yet.

My work is all around the farm with scrap mild steel (angle iron, box tubing, round tubing, etc).

"or maybe got wet"

They are indeed wet. They have been rained on. Will water ruin welding rods? Can't you just dry them out?

Thanks-

Yes wet rod is bad.I often grab a handful of rod from Ironworkers on varius job sites.I have discarded any suspect moist rod.Shops store rod in rod ovens.7018 becomes dangerous if containing moisture but I am sure you will hear from someone who knows how to dry it out again, maybe.Check with a manufacturer of welding rod.Ask the shop why they tossed it.after all it is in the dumpster. The new correct rod for each job is not that expensive. Most shops will give you a handfull of rod for free if you ask.

Like Chasny said, it's an electrode for spot welding galvanized decking to structural steel

Go to Lincoln's site, they have all the specs of all rods there and will also send you free literature.
