Have a pto wood chipper and it"s time to sharpen the blades. Is this something I"m able to do on my lawn mower blade sharpener or do I need to buy a chipper blade sharpener? If I need to buy one do any of you know where to look for one? Thank you.

These blades are a very hard steel and need to be sharpened with something very fine, and not very fast. If you use a grinder, you can get too much heat and destroy the blade, plus the edge will be very ruff, and not cut clean, this put s a lot of additional strain on your power supply, I sharpen them either with a belt sander or a hand file. But, take time doing it to keep the edge cool, make sure you follow the angle already there, or you will make it worse than it is now.

I sharpened the blade on my chipper and blades on my mower last summer with my belt sander. I got a much "cleaner" edge than with a grinder or hand file, and I was done in only a few minutes.

Don't let the metal get too hot or it will loose its temper.

most blades including the ones on my DR are made of a much harder steel than a mild steel blade that are on lawn mowers.
I use a diamond file for mine unless you chip a blade it should take an edge with a couple of passes.
