i have a poulan 3800. carb rebuilt, new plug(right GAP) CLEANED GAS TANK filter clear compression goow spark good bloody thing wont start. WHY????? ????? HELP bill

check the fuel line. It may be cracked or broken from the carb to the tank.

Pull the spark plug out then take the muffler off and move the piston to the bottom of its stroke. Take a look at the cylender. If there are any scratchs on the cylender it is shot. This would be the time to buy a new saw. There has been quite a bit of discussion on here about chain saws. Try to stay away from the home-owner models.

What is the compression on this engine?? Is this a reed port or piston port engine? If it is a reed port, have you got any little pieces in the reed? Have you checked and cleaned and checked the exhaust port? Has flywheel came loose and sheared key? This is just some of the crazy things I have found to cause problems in the past year or two, so it gives you a direction to start.

i pulled the muffler off and thr cylinder is good. how do you ckeck the reed ports and the pistin ports. im thinkin the carb wasnt done right. drivin me nuts. thanks for the help. bill

Verify that it is getting gas. If not Pour a teaspoon down the sparkplug hole, replace plug, see if it will pop atleast once.

tried the gas in carb nothing happend. gave up put in shop. if it is bad gonna get a husky 55 rancher. good idea????? ??? thanks for all the help. bill
