Hi All,

I bought a new Streamelite flashlight, Twintask, 2D size. Uses 7 LED's for 80hrs run time, 10 LED's for 50hrs, or Xenon bulb for 9.5hrs (focusable).

LED are a very light blue hue, supposed to be white lite but not a bother. There brighter than I thought they would be. Enough to preform emergancy engine work if needed.

I am disapointed in the Xenon blub as it's yellow and not as bright as a Krypton blub. Was supposed to be twice the lite.

Anyone else tried them? Brand? Voltage?

Well guys from reading the comments, I'm going to return the $45 wonder Streamlite and get another rechargable Maglite, about $88 with both chargers. I really like my other Maglite but I can't get it away from the wife's hands.

I think I'll pickup a couple cheapy lithium LED lites for the glove box as they last for a long time, 10yrs battery life.

T_bone - I was given a Cat Eye "Opticube" 5-LED clip-on headlight for my mountain bike a couple years ago. Granted it doesn't throw light like a halogen car headlamp, but it does provide a very respectable beam - more than adequate for night bike riding. It runs on (4) AA batteries which are supposed to last 30 hours. Unclipped from the bike it makes a slick, pocketable flashlight.

I also have a Tek Lite LED AA penlight I keep in my toolbox. Its' more than bright enough illuminate work inside a combine after dark, etc. And a set a battery's seems to last for ever (I've had it a couple years and it's still nice 'n bright on the original batteries.)

Howdy, T_bone! I got my father a Stanley 6-LED flashlight for Christmas. It takes 9 AA batteries, and is the same basic size as a 2-D flashlight. It has 3 power settings--"low", which uses 1 LED, "Medium", which uses 3, and "high" which uses all 6. So far, so good, but of course he"s had it less than a week. It was around $25 at the local hardware store. The light is very white--it doesn"t seem to have a blue or yellow tint to it.

Hi T_Bone,

I would like to pass along my choice of a flashlight. At work I was given the best flashlight I've ever had.. It's called a UK4AA. It's small, takes 4 AA batteries and the batteries last, it seems forever.. I've carried mine everyday since I got it as it fits great in my back pocket. When you turn it on, it has more than enough light to see up close or far away.. If you're having to use both hands it's easy to hold in your mouth. Anyone looking for a great light should really consider one of these great lights. I'm sure you won't regret spending the money. I did a google search for UK4AA and found lots of places that sell them.. Cheapest is about $16.00, but you won't be dissapointed, believe me..

Several years ago, my brother gave me a Headband Light... Brand is Aurora , I think.. I use it a lot , bright LED light is good. I was at a flea market this morning an hour before sunrise, it was nice to have...almost like natural light. BTW, it still has original batteries

Don't think I'd ever spend that much on a flashlight! I tried an LED light a year or two ago - threw the LED bulb out and put a real bulb back in. To me, the old-fashioned bulbs are way brighter and don't cause shadows. I'll stick with the old standbys...

Hi T
I"ve been looking at LED lights and bought a couple, but no LED"s have compared well (for brightness)to these Innova XO, except some $nap-On"$ (very recent). See link.
The XO take an unusual battery though. They actually can be used like a real flashlight can, because it has a quality magnifying lens to make the light much more intense.
I like them because batt"s and bulbs last alot longer. Cost maybe 3 x as much.

Hi T_bone, I won't be much help but will be following along on this thread. I just stole the time today to piece my BD versapak Krypton flashlight back together. I am pretty disappointed they've discontinued making the versapak stuff, got 4 or 5 of the NIMH batteries and near a dozen of old nicad versapaks. I haven't seen any of the LED flashlights I could live with. I used my 2 D cell maglite backup for a time today, too heavy and too long to stay in your pliers pocket to suit me. I haven't seen anything LED that's going to impress me vs Krypton, if there is I'd like to know too! Best Regards, DK

Hey Dean, Don't throw those old batteries away if you still like the versapak system. Perhaps you will find a store like here in my town. This store rebuilds battery packs to new or better condition and performance, and cheaper than buying a new battery. I think it's called, aptly enough, The Battery Store.

What's with those prices?
I've been using LED lights for a year or two, for a couple of bucks each.
