I wish those guys would take me off their mailing list! Generally the only things I buy from them are basic things like hand trucks, furniture dolly, etc. The other day they had their $75.00 18 guage brad nailer on sale for $30.00. Well, it's now in my shop. I read the archives. There was only one entry regarding HF brad nailers. Anyone else have experience with these babies. It may get returned yet. It would not get used a great deal, but I just don't want garbage either. I think it's HF's best! Any feedback out there? Thanks, US Guy

I have to add to the comments here. Yes the import tools are junk almost always. I had a cresent wrench (made in China) 10" long I used the hole in it to go onto the end of an allen wrench to tighten it, oops I bent the cresent wrench 45 degrees from straight. This wrench belonged to my employer. Total garbage I would rather pay double for the Made in USA cresent wrench and have it last for 20 years instead of 20 minutes.

When the choice is between a US brand made in china, and HF china made item of similar quality at half the price what then?

I have a HF store a few miles away and do purchase the items that they do well at. If it can be made out of a big hunk of steel and / or does not need to be precision they can do it. The rest I usually pass on as a lot of it is poor quality. I was looking for an air hose and on the shelf was two different made in USA hoses for less than the china imports! I needed a pump and motor for a water wagon. I was looking at one from Pacer Pumps from PA. Did a Google search and found that HF had them for much less than anybody else, and it went on sale for an additional 30% off. It has worked great. I never purchase an item from HF till it is 30 70% off regular price; they cycle through sale prices about every 3 months.

It looks like the US has exported most of the polluting jobs to china and India due to tighter regulations here.

I just bought a high speed air body saw for 20 bucks normally 40. We"ll see how long it lasts.
Question: with a 150 psi compressor will a 3/8 inch "200 psi working pressure" hose work just the same as a 1/2 inch?

I'm going to stick my neck wayyy out here... but its sad to see everyone gobbling up this china junk. I know sometimes you don't have a choice but all this cr%p cost someone their job. A friend of mine put it in perspective...He said his TV cost 300.00 ten years ago and now its only $79.00. But he doesn't go out and but four of them. Unfortunately thats what a lot of folks are doing. I know that not everybody's rich but we are our own worst enemy. I'm really corny, when I shop, I look for a made in the USA label. I'm sorry I'm unloading here but I just can't stand the thought of all this cheap stuff taking away our jobs. whew

I agree, I usually look for the "Made in USA" on the majority of everything I buy. I do buy the chinese made stuff, but it's few and far between. Passed up more than one Sear's Craftsman tool because of the "made in china" label that I found on the tool.

is their own worst enemy. More wages more benny's year after year after year.

They want more, the companies have to charge more. Granted cream could be skimmed off the top, but don't go blaming everyone that's buying the cheaper stuff. The unions of years ago started it...called it keeping up with inflation, but they forgot to look in their own backyard as to who was the one of the causes of inflation. Now everyone just expects a raise every year. And from what I've seen of a lot of American made stuff. Cost has gone up....quality has gone down.

Did your wages go up? If they did, why are you slamming someone else for their wages going up. I personally do not want to live like a Chinaman. If you recieve Chinaman wages, guess what, you will have to live like they do. You won"t be able to live differently due to lack of money.

Everybody cries when John and Mary Doe's hardware goes out of business, but no one wants to shop there. they all go to the cheap china store. One of the reasons the big three (Chevy, Ford and Chrysler) exist is because Sam Walton didn't live long enough to import a slave labor built car from china. You and I may not agree on the cost of living increases but the middle class built this country. Every nation has poor folks and royalty (even Ethiopia) but only the US has(d) a strong middle class. I don't know one single person who did or doesn't long for one of them good paying middle class jobs. If you want another example look at Harley Davidson; agood product, made in US, and people buy it, therefore people work there. whether you like it or not $8-$10 an hour does not buy many new cars or houses

Don't know if you caught my partial post, but they work best with pressure lower, not higher, 2K brads with at 85psi, no breakage, no jams.

Think you got it bad, try living less than a mile from one of their stores and having to pass it every day! LOL I always find odd bits and pieces for my shop, but the heavy duty stuff I get from Grainger's- SIL has account there, get company discount.
