Anyone know where one can get a starter for a jd gator? Mother deere craps them out solid gold for 399.95!!! Yes not a typo..Kaw 23 hp engine and they do not have starters avail for it and it is theirs. (imagine that)
Any one wanna buy a 6x4 with cab and heat as it may go up for sale after I get it running along with a few more deere items.
gee I think the last car starter I bought was about 10x the size and it only cost 24.95.Must be the minuturation process that adds to the cost.

815-962-2270 only charges actual shipping cost and rebuilds all my starter/ alternator/generator items does great great work and only charges about 20 dollars labor for complete tear downs and rebuilds he rebuilds everything from ezgo golf carts to ben sets. real good guy real good price hard to beat.

I ran into this exact problem several years ago with an old JD Amt 600. Deere wanted nearly $400 for a new starter. I got mine rebuilt at Harvey Brothers in Galesburg Illinois, for around $80. It still works great. This machine is used daily. If you can"t find a local solution, I would box it up and send it to them. They will work with mail orders. The phone number is 309-342-3137.

Kawasaki parts are expensive by themselves, then add in JD's markup -- wow! I have a Kawasaki Mule with the 10 hp Kawasaki engine. The starter solenoid died right after the warranty went out. Bought a new one for $94 (that was 6 years ago, who knows what they charge now). That one went out a year later. Rebuilt the orginal one by cutting off the swaged area and fabing a collar to hold everything together. (The weak part is the misalignment of the high current contacts.) With almost 800 hours on the clock, each solenoid has been rebuilt twice! Take that that, Kawasaki!

i can get a new starter for 119.00 with a 1 year warrante. Dont ever get the one from the dealer. That starter is used on golf carts lawn mowers and much more so is easy to find.

I believe it can be rebuilt at a starter/alternator repair shop. Though I have not had a problem with my gators starter yet, I have had to pay rediculis prices for other gator parts. However I use and abuse that buggy every day. I take all my truck, tractor, excavator and car starters /alts and gens to a good auto electric shop. I have found far fewer problems since I paid (in both senses) better attention to good bats and cable connections.
