My shop wood stove uses 7" vent pipe, went to get some and not a stick or elbow to be found. The ding dong at the hardware brought out some thin gauge galvanized duct pipe and tried to sell it to me, geez. Anybody seen 7" for sale?

Hi Butch,

7" rated for fuel unless your in a wood burning area is not a common size in single wall stove pipe which is 24ga.

Do not use a 6" stove pipe on a 7" vent requirement.

Vent pipe, not rated for fuel burning, is 28ga and is a common size.

It's still around--I lucked on to a bunch of it recently that was taken out of a house but still in almost-new shape. I had to scrounge a bit for elbows, but one of my local hardwar stores did have them in stock.

7" is not an unusual size. Lowes in my area stocks it. Any HVAC contractor can get 7" galvanized.

Butch, I should have 7" galvanized in stock. I can get black also. Black lists for about twice that of galvanized.

Can"t say that this will help you but I know it works great and will out last me. I use 6 inch well caseing pipe in my shop for stove pipe, take a few minutes to get it hot but once it is the fire burns well. A friend had a shop with it and he put it in about 25 years ago and its still good.

Can't say that I've seen 7" stovepipe. Lots of 6 or 8. Maybe you need to reduce to 6". As far as mig gas goes, use whats recommended. I find that 75-25 is good for all round welding.Look around for a used tank that your gas people can certify and fill. Certifying a tank only costs about 20 bucks, plus fill..
