They work! Use terpentine for lubricant/coolant to carry cuttings away. Build a dam around the site with plumbers putty and fill with terpentine, then use only the slightest amount of even down pressure, preferably in a drill press for more even cutting. Allow the diamond cutter to do the work or you'll break the mirror/glass, whichever you are cutting.

Sounds good except you need to use WATER as a lubricant/coolant! I"ve drilled 1/2" holes in about 50 glass blocks for SWMBO so she could make Christmas decorations. I tried WD40, dark cutting oil, 3 in 1 oil, kerosene - water works best - and you can clean it out of the block! Any type of oil leaves a residue that"s hard to remove. The blocks I drilled had a vaccuum inside so it sucked the oil right in. Water works better and is MUCH easier to clean up!

Use a 1 inch copper tube and lapping compound or use a carbide burr bit in a dremel tool.
