a "friend" gave me a small echo 2 cycle leaf blower... claimed it was dripping oil in his driveway so he replaced it... (that should have been my first clue)

took it home, mixed the 32:1 and fired it up... cranked fine, ran for about 2 minutes.. died..

died like you pulled the switch... pull..pull.. puuuuulllll l till you sweat, kick it cuss it and walk away.. (catch your breath)

back in 10 minutes... pull ?? fired first pull...ran 10 minutes... died ??? what the ?????

kept pranking with it till I just left it in the driveway and hoped someone I didn"t like would steal it...

mentioned it on another forum... they said maybe the fuel tank cap is clogged and it"s vacuum locking (sorta) the tank needs to pull air..

cleaned the check valve in the cap tried it..same thing... loosened the cap... same thing...

I wish I had a taller fence to throw it over #$^%^$$

any suggestions ?? got to be heat related but dang it don"t run long enough to figure out what it is ???

TIA

john

I am prejuced toward Redmax, I sell them, BUT, Echo makes one of the easiest starting, best running blower on the market, they are 5 times what a Stihl is. The most common problems with Echo blowers is either a broken primer ora fuel line with a crack in it. If you were around here, I would get it fixed in about 1/2 hour. so do not chuck it, you have a good blower, you just need to get the gremlin out of it.

John,
Pull the muffler and clean the port, leaking oil is a sign the port is not clear and the exhuast cannot escape fast enough.

May be a hole in the primer bulb. Check the serial number with Echo for any recall info. I know the gas lines may leak.
