Went to the madhouse HF sale the day after Thanksgiving. Bought two reciprocating saws plus two packs of extra blades. Stood in line a half hour to get checked out - and when I got home, no blades! Called the store and luckily the manager answered. Told him that I'd be back in the city next Wednesday; he said to ask for Paul. Showed him the receipt when I got back to the store; he said there were thousands of people in the store that day. Gave me two packs of blades and sent me on my way. Lesson: When there is a problem, be sure you talk to the right person!

Ya know guys, it looks like most of y'all are spending at least $50 each time you go to HF. Y'all should know that their web site has more stuff than their stores, and will ship free on orders over $50. That's how I shop there...

How many times has a kid behind the counter at NAPA told you, oh that'll fit. You can see it's the wrong one. If everyone that waits on you is a professional, you are going to have to dig deep. Just figures. Don't expect a $10 tool to perform as long as a $100 one and if it does, hey thats a good thing. When I was working and 25 yrs before I retired I bought a Mitutoyo mic cheap and everybody kidded me about my "Polish" mic. Still have it and look at what Mitutoyo tools are respected today. I've bought many since. Then look at the company you work for and how many Mazak machineing centers are they are running.

In my area the HF store has a rule. If you have any intelligence, you can't work in the store.

Youare la lucky man, I went to our local HF store to look around when it first opened. Seen they had a mini lathe, I had one, so I asked about accessories, "Duh, I am not sure where they are and if we have any" Found them myseld, where at?, under the front counter in a display.
Went back the second time, took 20 minutes for soemone to find what I was looking for. My Dad went in, they had tralier jacks on display, they had the good ones on a display, he grabbed two, got them home, they were the light ones, the ones they had on display were in another part of the store. Not bad products, it is just a hassle to shop there, so I do not go back, my time is too important to me.

With all this money we are spending at H.F. and most of the money going to China, what is China buying from you and I to get our money back????? Not much I would imagine. Seems like a one way street. And all the good jobs are following our money to China.

I made a comment on another thread that veered off to this kind of subject so I'll add a little to your post. It seems like most everyone thinks along the same lines when it comes to the subject of buying foreign made products, as long as they're cheap thats all that matters to me, if the american worker wants to keep his/her job they should work as cheap as the people in other countries do. Well there is a major problem with that kind of logic, or should I say lack of logic, we would all be hard pressed to buy anything on the wages those people make. Look at their living standards. Who do you think is benefiting from that, sure we may get things a little bit cheaper but the difference in production cost versus what we are charged is several times what it used to be. Where is all that extra profit going. Just for a clue our local paper yesterday had an article about the CEO of Unitedhealth group. He recently sold $141 million of stock. That was less than 9% of what he had. That means he has gotten over $1.25 billion in just stock from them. Is there any question why health care is so expesive. Who needs or even deserves that kind of compensation? Third world workers don't even make our minimum hourly wage in a day. People here making minimum wage or even double that don't buy much more than the bare essentials, they don't pay taxes. So when the companies have sent all our good paying jobs overseas who is going to buy these products, who is going to pay the taxes needed to pay for roads, police, firemen, teachers etc. Wake up Americans to who is raping us over, it sure isn't the working folks. Sorry for the rant but it just burns me to read people saying it is us working folks who are causing the problems.

I'm supposed to worry about the $500. I've spent over the years at HF when there are foreign cars and trucks in every other driveway in America at $20K-50K? Get real. I've never owned a foreign vehicle, guess I've got $19.5K to go to be like everyone else...
Then theres the Hyundai construction equipment I see everywhere at $80-100K a pop...

actually China buys iron ore from Australia and Brazil not much scrap going to them from the USA. the problem is not China it is the greedy executives in the USA including Chenney. I only buy american tools ie sterrett, Wright not American city tools like Chicago and Pittsburg

The H.F. sotre in my area (aobut 80 miles) seems to be perpetually understaffed, and sometimes getting a phone answered is frustrating, but they are very good at taking care of any problems you have.
