My torch heating tip starts to pop as it gets warmer. after it starts to machine guns, it can't be used anymore until it cools down for a while.

It pops either because,

It's dirty,

It's worn out from repeated cleanings,

You are not running enough pressure for the size tip you have,

There may be a damaged taper fitting where the tip goes on the torch,

Bad o-rings where torch head goes on torch body,

Or last but certianly not least the mixing chamber(s) in the cutting torch section with the two metal tubes may have failed internally.

So, that being said if a new tip and or increased pressures doesn't help, look at the orings, then if it's still messed up you might start looking for another torch because by the time you send it in, you'll be better off to just buy new stuff.

Also check your o-rings in the connection at between tip fitting and handle. Make sure tip is tight into its fitting and made for that make of torch. Check pressures and make sure tip is clean.

Are you sure your cylinder is big enough for your torch? Rosebuds need a lot of acetylene.

Another thing that will cause the tip to get hot and start popping is the nature of the work you're doing. If you're down in a V with the torch, they get very hot very quickly, as the heat has nowhere to go but back at the tip.

Is this a rose bud tip ? I have to run the gas pressures alot higher to run mine without popping.

It pops because it is hot. Quote "until it cools down". It should never get hot. It could need cleaning, but most likly you are holding it so that the heat is coming back around it. Second reason is, you are not using enough gas flow to cool it. Up the pressure. Posible bad seal inside torch.
