Can someone tell me what weight motor oil to use. Is 10W40 OK to use year round in Kentucky? How much oil does the engine hold, including filter?

You need 5 quarts if you replace the filter.

The original owners manual says to use SAE 30 at temperatures consistently over 90 degrees,
SAE 20 from 32 degrees to 90 degrees, SAE 20W between 10 and 32 degrees, SAE 10W from -10
to 10 degrees, and SAE 5W below -10 degrees.

Any Ford/New Holland Dealer will tell you that you can run 10W30 all year round, but
I find that I get enough blowby when running 10W30 to blow some oil out through the
breather. I do not observe this with SAE 30.
