OT. Got my stone cut!

I tryed a wide chisel first, I creased it all the way round several times. Its wouldn't snap. I then made my trip to Lowes and purchased a 7 1/4" masonary blade. The masonry blade did a good job, I made a 2 inch cut on opposite sides and hit it with a hammer , off it popped. Thanks Guys for the help, Robert in Md.

For future reference, I just bought a 4.5 inch diamond blade for my small grinder. I had to break out (controlled) 4 spots in the concrete floor of our future basement bathroom. Laid out with pencil and used that blade. Unbelievable how fast it cut...about as fast as I could keep up and keep the dust of the safety glasses. Now it only cut 1/2 inch deep due to the backer disk on the grinder, but if necessary, I could have gotten a smaller backer (large washer, etc.) and gone deeper.

I cut 1/2 inch deep, and did about 35 feet in maybe 15 minutes, then the demolition hammer made short work of the rest. Clean, controlled cuts...and the blade cost about $9 at Menards. I used maybe 25% of the blade...that's a fantastic tool that I'll keep around.

Thanks for posting. I've been wondering how you came out. I am really surprised that the chisel didn't do the job. Oh well, I've now learned something.
