Guys..... ..gotta typical 15 yr old 2-wheel 1/4 hp bench grinder that I want to change 1 of the 6" wheels on. Its not intuitively obvious how to stop the motor shaft from turning when trying to remove the 3/4" shaftnut. I tried holding by hand, but my hands are weak ennymore. I know alotta shaft stuff have some sorta locking mechanism but I failed to "spy" or recognize a shaft lock. Any suggestions? TIA..... ....Dell

Always ring-test new wheels before mounting them. Also, after mounting wheels, stand out of the way & let grinder run for a few minutes, just in case wheel wants to self-destruct..... ..

I usually use inertia. Just put a box wrench on
it and slam it down on the bench. The inertia in
the wheel will break it loose. Use the same method
to tighten. Never had a problem using this technique.

Remember the nut tightens opposite the way the
wheel spins

Jam a wood wedge between the wheel and the guard, or better yet, use an impact wrench, remembering that the LH nut will have LH thread.
