whatever you buy make sure the local dealer carries replacement parts for it in stock. This is especially true of plow specific parts, many other places can make hoses etc. I currently run a 1972 Meyers that is on its third truck. I run a western at work (manufactured right here in Milwaukee)The meyers has been good to me but I only do about 6 2-300" driveways for the neighbors. the western does a 3 acre lot at work. I do a lot of back & forth and have found I prefer controls on the left as it allows me to raise the plow to back up at the same time as shifting gears, this actually saves quite a bit of time. You really need to think about your application to figure out what you need. are you going to be pounding out mall parking lots every 2" or doing a couple of drives for the neighbors? you may not need the middle folding Vee plow or something like that. I would be wary of trip edge blades if there are a lot of unknown hazards where you plow. The 4" trip edge doesn"t like 6" curbs. If your buying new figure to spend at least $2000 this time of year.

I have a Boss straight blade, easy to put on and take off, I opted for the hand held control rather than the joy stick. Like it better than the western that I had. They are made right here in Iron Mountain MI where I live. If you are doing commercial plowing I think they are making a new plow with a trip edge looked like a pretty neat set up. 30+ years mechanic in the Northeast and installed/worked on many snow plow, Myers, Western, Fisher etc. In my opine Fisher has the other beat in quality and strength. Yes, they cost more but the others break more often and breaking costs $$$.

Here is a link for Fisher.

The market is expanding with new plow manufacturers - Western is the standard around here. The Boss plows are being sold pretty heavily too, especially that one that is hinged in the middle, seems really popular. Am also impressed with the Curtiss plows. In any brand, look for a heavy construction, and get better than their bottom line model. I run an old Meyers that doesn't have enough curve in the blade, and the snow doesn't roll very well. Something else to look for. Unfortunately, you're going to pay for the better plows, but I believe it is worth it in the long run to get a good one, use it carefully and don't go slamming into things with it.

Check out Blizzard Plows! Very nice. My buddy had one put one his 2001 superduty. He did a lot of research before buying. He is also a mechanic and knows his stuff.
