Northern Tools sells plans for log splitters. You can probably find 'em on their website.

If you add a cross wedge you can split twice as fast you quarter a log instead of just busting it in half, and northern tool sells good punps and wedge kits .

Do a search on this site on the implement alley discussion forum. I remember about a year ago or less a guy made a real nice splitter that was painted green and black and had John Deere painted on the side of the ram cylinder. If I remember correctly the discussion topic was "anybody make there own farm implements" and a guy posted the picture of the splitter. I recommend at least a min. of a 10Hp motor and a logsplitter valve and a double pump. GOod Luck
