I am going to rescreen my back porch with bright aluminum screening. I want to secure the screening with a hand staple gun and not aluminum tacks. My guestion is are stainless or monel staples compatiable with the aluminum. I know aluminum will almost desolve when in contact with certain metals. I know the standard galvanized staples will rust very quickly. Which would be better Stainless or Monel ?? Thanks Robert

I've had good luck using steel staples to hold the screen initially, then screwing wooden screen door moulding over it with 3/4, #4 brass screws. The screws come with #1 Robertson slots (square, yellow) and they are very nice to put in without countersinks. It doesn't really matter if the staples hold, because the screws and the wood do the work.

Stainless would be the better choice. Monel is essentially a bronze and is a bad marriage for aluminum.
