A few years ago, my son bought me a set of GearWrenches. These are a nice compact combination wrench with a ratcheting box end and an open end. At first, I thought these would last until the first time that I used them, but I was surprised. Now, I find that I use them more than any wrench in the tool chest. They are as handy as pockets on a shirt.

Since they are so handy, I was thinking of getting another set to have at different locations and to possibly give as gifts for Christmas for the aficionado male tractor wrench jockeys in my family.

Apparently, GearWrenches are available at ACE hardware stores. I, also, found a complete set up to 3/4" at DirecTool.com. When visiting the web page, I can't find where they are located or anything else about them. Anyone know about this outfit?

Hello,

I am a representative of DirecTool.com. I would like to share a little info. about our company.
First of all, our physical location is in Philadelphia. We have a PO Box (360) in Wynnewood, PA (just outside of Philly) for any mailings. At this time, we do not list our phone number because we are a small company, and do not yet have a customer service staff capable of handling a large number of phone calls properly. We try to handle as much as possible via email. This enables us to keep our costs down, which in turn, helps keep our customers' costs down. I do give my direct number to anyone who asks, because I can understand the skeptcism regarding unfamiliar web sites.
With regard to our shipping policy, we charge for shipping only once. In other words, if you were to choose to have any backordered items shipped seperately, you would be billed freight with the first shipment only. The backorders would be shipped with no additional freight charge. We feel it is our responsibility to keep the merchandise in stock. If we fail to do so, why should you have to pick up the extra charge?
I hope this helps to dismiss any fears of doing business with us. If there is anything else you would like to know, please send me an email. I will be happy to discuss it.
FYI Ken - we also carry Enerpac and Power Team hydraulic equip.

Thanks,
Mike

I haven't ordered from Directool.com yet but I would not be too reluctant to place an order. I reviewed their shipping costs and it appears that they do not abuse their customers with these fees. The address of Directool is a PO Box in Wynnewood Pa. and appears to me to be a middleman with decent prices.

LTF,

Hopefully, they're not like Northern Tool (formerly Northern Hydraulics). With Northern, when I order several items, they will send each in a separate UPS shipment. I bought some hydraulic fittings from them about 4 months ago and the UPS charges was about $30 - $40 for $150 of hoses and fittings. I said to myself "Not again." Afterwards I used Baileynet for hydraulics and I've been very pleased.

What bothers me about Directool.com is that they don't show an address or telephone number. You often hear about these internet scams.

Ken, as you can see I am not bashful. I went to the site and suggested that they answer. Looks as if the response is reasonable. I may buy an impact wrench from them if they have what I am looking for. I will advise of the service if this occurs. Have a good one
