lincoln Idealarc Tig

I just bought a lincoln Idealarc 300/300 tig today at a auction. It is set up for stick now but came with a tig torch(no hose). I got a manual with it and it said I need a contol that plugs into the front of the welder to use tig. I'm going to use it mostly for tig work and need to know what I need to set it up for tig.

Hi Ty,

With the manual you should be able to follow there Tig set up procedure. As to the parts needed to buy any welding supply should be able to order what you need.

The torch is probably the cheapest part of the required parts. The solenoid valves are located under the SM cover at the bottom front.

Depends on what type of Tig welding your doing would determine wet or dry torch. AL welding then a wet torch with foot control.

If welding lite gauge SS then a thumb off/on swith on the torch and no foot control with a dry torch.

So with some more info on the type of Tig welding your wanting to do would help us suggest something else.

Thanks t-bone. You've helped me before on other welding questions and it's always appriciated. The main reason I got the tig is for AL. I have a air-cooled and water-cooled torch that I picked up in box of welding supplies I bought at an auction a few months ago. I just need a cord and a foot control(according to what you said).

if you are welding most steel alloys you can get by with scratch start. you will need a tank of argon, a hose & regulator. For more control add a foot pedal & high freq start
