If you can manage to catch a snap on truck at a shop the tool guy should fix a broken ratchet for free. ALL snap on HAND TOOLS are warranty for life. I have stripped many 1/4 and 3/8 ratchets over my 15 years as a mechanic. Air ratchets are only warranty a short time, hand tools forever. That's also why I will buy broken ones if I run across them at a yard sale. I have a socket that is an 1 1/4 snap on. I origally found about 2/3 of the socket in the salvage yard. Since the size and words "SnapOn" where on the part I had, I got a brand new one for free. NEVER pay for a ratchet kit for a hand ratchet. If the ratchet skips, it be may dirty inside and a good cleaning with brake clean and a light coating of WD40 with fix it. This is very common on snapon ratchets. If you find a sliver of metal material inside the ratchet head, this is what will make it skip, you must then check all the teeth and especially the pawl, that is usually where the sliver comes from. It is the leading edge of the pawl that comes off. This will be replaced by the snapon dealer for free. Like I said, I've done it alot, maybe once a year. But I used my ratchets for eight to ten hours a day, time adds up.
