Plastic Repair Kits

Has anyone used the Plastex or Plast-aid "kits", which consist mainly of a liquid and powder that's mixed together? They are supposed to repair most kinds of plastic, form broken off mounting tabs and reproduce knobs, etc.

Never saw it til now..... interesting concept. I have worked in the plastics industry since I was 20 ( all I know how to do, LOL), & have a good grasp of the properties of plastics. This kit might work in a low-stress situation, but I doubt if it is anywhere as strong as the parent material. Most failures of plastic parts are caused by a sharp internal corner (Stress Riser), that & knit lines are the main reason that tabs & bosses break off. My feeling is that this product might work, but never as well as the original material. Another potential problem I see is that nothing will stick well to polypropylene & polyethylene. ABS & Lexan (Polycarbonate) are fairly easy to adhere to. If you try it, please report back how it worked. Regards, Davis

I was trying to find a repair for cracked plastic gas tanks: one for my Green Machine string trimmer, and one for a friend"s motorcycle tank. I found these kits, but they"re not for fuel tanks. I have several plastic items that have broken tabs and posts, but there is very little surface area for the cement to work. I don"t think I"ll get these kits any time soon.
