want to heat my workshop in N,Va. It is about 22x20 with a 10 ft ceiling. Will a Glow Warm 28,000 BTU heater do the job? Seldom gets much under 18 degrees. Any comments on this?

Is the Glo Warm a vented or non vented unit?
If non vented you may have problems with moisture and rusting of tools and parts.
By the way those Propane salamanders and pot heaters are real bad as far as condensation goes. Been there done that.Gotta get the wood stove in real soon!

about the garage heater, it is propane and will not be vented. Just need it to warm the place up before I go out there. Interesting what was said about tools rusting. Being as I am from Ca, where nothing rusted, to Va, where everything does, now I know why they sell WD40 by the gallon here. Figure a little propane can't do much more harm. I originally was raised in Ia, and this place is worse for rust than Ia. ever was. Thanks again guys

Hi Ret, Your really taking a chance that someone will get hurt or die with any UNVENTED carbon fueled heater. Not a good idea.

It would take about 4 to 6hrs laying under a truck working on the engine, etc: for carbon monoxide to get you asleep and never wake up!!!

Propane when burned becomes...Heat plus..
CO2 and H20. Lots of H2O. That's why you need the vent. Humidity will skyrocket in a sealed place. My garage has a 4 inch crack under the main doors, no roof insulation, and when I heat it with a propane salamander, It gets REAL WET.Ask you local heating contractor what he thinks in your climate. Course the CO2 isn't a good thing to breathe either.

Hi ret, Yep it's just right if it's gas fired. With your low not going lower than 18 then you could go a little smaller if you wanted. About 50btu/sq.ft would do. And if you don't mind it running a little longer you could even cut back some more but no less than a 20k btu provided your outside walls are insulated. You usaually don't want it more than 60 to 65 degrees for working in.
