If you were going to buy a chops saw, which brand and why?

1-Milwaukee the one I am leaning on
2- Ryobi
3-Rigid seems kinda recent brand
4- Makita seems flimsy

They all seem to be within a couple of bucs of each other.
thanks

I've had a Makita for many years. Works well and few problems. I would like a more solid base and a quick vise on a replacement.

I have had excellent experiences with all of my Bosch power tools (including a chop saw).
You can check out their specs @ Boschtools.com

Good Luck

this might seem crazy to you, but i use 15" hitachi saws. durn thing will saw a 6X6, but it looks odd to see a piece of shoe molding in it. i like them because of the capacity. you can buy them used on ebay reasonably also.

Have Makita that is about twenty years old and still going. Not a testimonial, just a fact.If I were buying a new one today, I would be sure to get one with a quick release vice and would probably choose a Dewalt.Manufacturers change the models so much these days,it is hard to give a good recommendation without seeing each one.

I have a Milwaukee chop saw that I bought 2 years ago. Works good, plenty of power. I like the cast iron base, I think it gives it a more solid feel. Only thing I don't like about it is it's made in China, but I guess most electric tools are nowdays.

Bought a dewalt a coupla days ago. been using a milwaukee for years. The milwaukee worked just fine, but the blade guard seemed to stick a bit once it got older. Thought I'd try the dewalt due to the handle being turned at a right angle. Much more comfortable to use.

I bought a Mil chop saw without noticing the made in japan.Wrote to them"What is this made in Japan Crap. They actually wrote back to me;If we temporarily go to an outside source we can only assure you that it is of the same Millwaukee high quality you are used to.Even said :We recieved your comment"What is this made in japan crap."I laughed because I really didnt expect a response back.Saved the letter in my toolbox.I guess now there are chinese.Tried to buy American.
