I have a new rope as the last one broke. Only lasted 14 years!! Impressive. How do I go about installing new cord.If I have to preload spring how do I do it. Any other tips would be useful. If replying by e mail please put homelite in subject space. Thanks.

Brunolab: I've never had the Super 2 rewind apart, but assuming it's the same as most, you pull off the side cover and remove the screw from the center of the rope-holder disk. The disk should pull out, leaving the spring coiled in the bottom. Take out the old rope and install the new one. Re-install the disk and screw--you may have to rotate the disk backwards and forwards a bit to get it to drop down all the way. There should be a notch in the top of the rope-holder disk--line this up with the grommet where the rope exits the case and pull enough slack in the rope to enable you to put the rope in this notch. This will give you a loop of rope sticking up inside the case, between the rope-holder disk and the grommet where the rope exits the case. Wind the assembly clockwise a few times to pre-load the spring. Pull and twist the handle out to straighten the rope (it will be twisted due to pre-loading the spring) and then gently test the assembly to make sure the spring is tight enough to pull the rope back in but loose enough to allow full extension of the rope. Re-assemble the case and resume cutting!
