Have an older Taiwan Import(IAC)6" 1/4hp bench grinder that have served well for yrs,but the switch has gone bad. This is a push/pull "snap" switch(plastic)DPST switch which fits into an opening at the motor base.Believe this switch highly overrated at 250V/20A.Would like to find"replacement copy" to solve fitment problems, but if not what specs are actually needed for a 1/4hp capacitor start/run 110V import motor??
Anyone have a source for import parts such as this??

The pull/push switch on my 3/4 hp grinder went bad and I couldn't find one. On mine there was just enough room to put a wall type light switch in the same hole that the bad one was in, so that's what I did and it's been working Ok for about 3 years now.

Have one of those grinders and had a problem with the switch where it would not go over center and click 'ON' when I pulled the knob. I took the switch apart and repaired it. I can't remember just what I did but it is repairable.

JoeK If the grinder is mounted to the bench mount a metal box and cover with a lite switch to the bench and splice into the wires.works good..i myself spliced the foot peddle from a sewing machine inline in mine.when you have your hands full step on the peddle to make go and when you walk away it shuts of..also it shuts off quick if something happens, just move your foot.

I work at a NAPA store. Recently had someone come in with the same problem. On his we were able to use a rocker switch much the same as used in many large trucks. The mount on his was plastic and was large enough to cut out the rectangular hole needed for the new switch. Good Luck. Brad

Good Luck! I've been searching for a reversing switch for a Craftsman 1/2" commercial drill, rated@ 5 amps/125 volts, for several months, without any success. I've decided to try a powertool supply and repair center to see if they can repair it. However, it will probably cost more than it's value.

Let me know if you find a source.

If it is like this one, should have no problem finding something at surplus places, Grizzly, Jet, or even Sears.
