I am considering to purchase an 2001 Ford F250 diesel. with around 77,000 miles, a while back on this forum there was something about the engine coolant that should be checked? also anything eles(sp) I should know & look at. This is going to be my first diesel. it has an atomatic transmission. Thanks Dave F.

If the truck has green coolant, replace it with that, if gold then use that. It is CRITICAL to use the FW-16/ DCA-4 engine coolant additive. Levels should be checked with test strips available from your local International Truck & Engine Corp. dealer. If the additive is not used, pinholes will develop in the water jacket around the cylinders (terminal end).
