Hi Samco, I'll assume your asking about natural gas units. I really think any of the name brands will be good with York being right up there but was always a little spendy. Alot changes in this field in the 6 yrs I've been retired. One thing you might consider is the efficentey of the unit as Lynix was up around 93% the last I heard and would be figured as BTU-out divded by btu-in. Depending on what type of your current heating is, forced air, gas , electric, utility cost of your area there could be alot of other options.

Call your locl utility company and see what rebates there offering.

Natural gas is very hard to beat in orperating cost and I don't care how they try a juggle the figures (bad as a used car saleman) well not that bad.

I did a cost comparission in 90 that relfected the cost of utilitys at the time for a given area for the typical units being built: Natural gas $ .34/hr
Heatpump $ .89/hr
Electric $2.35/hr

Those figures will change alot as the efficentcy raises so take the above with a grain of salt as in 90 effecintcy was just being exploaded for the time period. The mfg's really didn't care before that time.

Once you narrow you choice call the utility that you be using and ask them to give you there opinion on what your considering buying. There usually very good about fare comments about installers and well as mfg's and they don't pull no punches on bad apples. Sometimes they'll even come out and give you a free heat loss reading showing you where you could improve.

Me I like the wood heat as it just feels good to the bones!!!
